Justin Mathew Fonticoba’s “Good Morning Oaxaca”

Today in #CocktailCulture I introduce you Justin Mathew Fonticoba, Bartender at Bodega South Beach and his incredible Cocktail “Good Morning Oaxaca”. @bodegasobe “My first job behind the bar was on my 22nd birthday. I was barback for 5 years and a newly promoted bartender, I learn and retain as much knowledge as I can from the various professionals I have the opportunity of working with. Though I continue to grow, the time spent working towards this position has been rough. Patience is a virtue in this industry. I’m currently attending college. I also look forward to owning my own bar. An artist with entrepreneurial ambition. My cocktail, Good morning, Oaxaca, originated with a patron asking for a spicy, coffee, mezcal drink. The first thing I thought of was jalapeños and coffee which doesn’t even look good on text. After some consideration I realized to give this drink the illusion of “spice” I wasn’t limited to hot ingredients. So I reach for some cinnamon, Galiano Ristretto, and an aged Mezcal which helped blend, an otherwise dominating base liquor, nicely.”

1.5oz Ilegal Reposado Mezcal
1/2o Averna Amaro
3/4oz Galliano Ristretto
1/2oz Cinnamon Sirope
1 Dash Lemon Bitters
All the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake hard and double strain into a rocks glass with a big ice cube.
Graded cinnamon garnish
